The Kent A. Clark Center for Global Markets at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, regularly asks economists to share their opinion on important economic questions about the United States political economy. The views are taken in the form of a poll, with a few questions in which they give an answer, on whether they agree or disagree with a proposition. Past surveys have asked opinions on a few controversial topics. For some economic problems, the responses are usually the same from all surveyed but occasionally a few people don’t follow the crowd or simply refuse to answer. The last category is the most fascinating. Do they refuse to answer willingly or are their opinions things you can’t say publicly?
